The Test Print Copy of Old Grandmother’s Tree Has Arrived!

Sharing this exciting update with you all. The test print copy of Old Grandmother’s Tree has arrived! As I thumb through the printed pages for the first time, I am again reminded how blessed we’ve been to have an artist as talented as Natasha working on this book project. Her illustrations are filled with light that illuminates a dimensionality right off the page. Natasha’s illustrations do more than just supplement the stories; they stand as vibrant counterparts that are co-equal to the written word.

If you look at the illustrations carefully, you will find hidden “easter eggs” referencing other events and characters throughout the book. The book as a whole is structured with mini-stories embedded within. Some of those stories are embedded within the text itself, while others are referenced in the illustrations.

Curious about how many there actually were, I went through and counted twelve mini-stories. How many will you be able to count?

Another interesting thing to look for throughout the illustrations are references to the Ojibwe people, which Natasha included in honor of her Ojibwe ancestors. Can you find them?

Stay tuned for more upcoming announcements and updates!
